Tencue - Executive Director

Department: Tencue
Location: Berkeley, CA

Tencue is a full-service experiential marketing and consulting company focused on live interactions, in-person and digital. We understand how people communicate across media and platforms, and we understand strategic and brand alignment. With roots in performing arts and social sciences plus twenty years of experience in live corporate events, Tencue brings a unique perspective to every project.

TENCUE is seeking an Executive Director (ED) to join our leadership team.

Our ED needs to be a people-centered business strategist who is excited by creative ideas, and who understands that operations are the backbone supporting dynamic, diverse, distributed teams that are creatively led and strategically driven to execute precisely. You live on the edge of what is possible and produce high quality, tangible results.

Reporting to the CEO of Opus Holdings Group and co-leading with an Executive Artistic Director (EAD), you are a team advocate, a business legend, a problem solver, an innovator. Where others may crumble under pressure of high volume, high demands, you thrive, zero in on what is truly needed, and know how to get it done. Living in and through the mission and vision statement, you are the glue that holds together all the moving parts of our triple bottom line: People. Projects. Profit. Your understanding of relationship building is highly attuned to and holds the space, structure, and culture for our teams to ideate, collaborate, and execute dynamic productions--powerfully.

You will explore new markets and reimagine a creative structure emboldened to take risks with ideas, while developing sound business fundamentals that combine the Tencue people centered and BJEDI (belonging, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion) values with your proven experience. You will lead the strategic direction of the organization in the following areas:

Keep all functional parts of core business operations focused on delivering exceptional engagements and make the magic visible internally as well as externally. You will be accountable for creating, managing, and developing sustainable and engaging business practices that serve and foster a culture of innovation and creativity.

Rock the numbers, do the math, grow the cache. You will be accountable for all things P&L, GAAP accounting and accrual accounting, business development and profit making.

Inspire, guide, and steer the teams to that sweet spot where their maximum contribution meets the maximum satisfaction of the organization. You will lead and grow the teams accountable for operationalizing Tencue values at every level of the organization.

Business Development

With the Executive Artistic Director and your team, you’ll explore and distinguish the visions of Opus and Tencue in the market, noting what markets we serve, and how are they different, and what approaches we have, how those are different. You’ll find new business that suits our creative approach.

And yes, there is more, however, we won't clutter the job description with all of the bulleted transactional activities that are needed to make this work successful. We are saving that for the interview. If called to interview, please be prepared to show and tell us how you would make this position successful in these functional areas.

For consideration, please submit a cover letter and resume that demonstrates your readiness for this role.
